If you already have an audio file you to edit, you can import it into Audacity.

Import an audio file.
Import an audio file – usually in mp3 format.
- From the File menu, select Import then Audio.
- Select the audio track you wish to open and click Open.
Import a mov audio file.
Audacity can import uncompressed files such as mov.
- From the File menu, select Import, then Import raw data.
- Select your file and click on Open.
