CASS Gender-Inclusive Teaching workshop

Facilitated by Dr Kelly Frame (CLT), Isabel Mudford (CASS), Melinda Drummond (CLT), Karlene Dickens (CLT) and Will Scates-Frances (CLT)

The CASS Gender-Inclusive Teaching workshop is delivered through the “Every Voice” project – a campus-wide initiative funded by the ANU Gender Institute and the Centre for Learning and Teaching. The purpose of the workshop and the “Every Voice” project is to explore the unexpected ways gender can impact student experience, learning, and academic performance.

How do we help students feel like they belong and why is that the responsibility of an educator? How does the design of routine activities and assessments favour some students and prevent others from participating and flourishing? How do we manage the beliefs about gender that students bring to the classroom?

We will be asking these questions and more throughout the workshop, seeking inspiration from CASS educators who are doing innovative work in this space, and working together to develop practical and immediately actionable strategies for creating respectful and inclusive learning environments.
