ECHO360 Active Learning

The ECHO you know…..

Most of you will be familiar with ECHO as the automatic recording application that records on campus lectures and makes them available in Wattle to your students. But ECHO can do much more than that.

In ECHO you can view how your students engage with the recorded lectures by doing the following:

Viewing analytics

Click to your ECHO Active Learning icon in your Wattle site

In the very top of the page you will see a number of items in the menu like Classes, Q&A, etc. click on the one that is called Analytics.

You can now see a wide range of information regarding your students’ engagement with your lectures and you can drill down to quite specific data including single student engagement, class, etc.

Engaging with the active part of ECHO

ECHO however can do much more than just keep your recorded lectures and deliver analytics to see how students access recorded lectures. In ECHO you can create activities to make your classes (face to face or online) more interactive and we will discuss some ideas below but first, the mechanics of the engagement part.

Adding Power Point slides to use as a pre, post or during lecture activity:

  1. Create your Power Point presentation with the information to guide your students on what they are learning and instructions about the activities they will be doing.
  2. Click to your ECHO Active Learning icon in your Wattle site
  3. If you want to add the activity to an existing lecture go to that lecture schedule and click on the blue + button you see
  4. You will be prompted to select the files you want to upload, there is an option to also create slides in ECHO but uploading from PowerPoint is much better and gives you more design options.

Now you are ready to introduce the active elements to your slides. This video explains the various options you might want to use:
